WINTERSTONE framesaw blades for horizontal or vertical cutting are used wherever there is a need for cost-effective production of slabs from quarried or cast blocks, in craft or industrial production operations, or for trimming irregular blocks.

The majority of framesawing machines for slab production work with between 30 and 60 blades. Modern machines permit mounting of between 80 and 100 blades or more. Trimming saws work with one blade.

WINTERSTONE diamond framesaw blades are the follow-up tools after quarrying of soft stone blocks. The blocks are cut into billets or slabs. Different widths of framesaw segment are used depending on the type of material and framesawing machine.

WINTERSTONE framesaw segments have a standard length of 20mm, and are conical with a standard height of 7mm. The conical segment shape gives the advantage of considerably reducing side friction, and thus also the power consumption of the motor.

For abrasive materials, WINTERSTONE produces wider framesaw segments, or segments in sandwich design. The sandwich shape means that the segments hardly become rounded, and gives a skating effect whereby the blade guides itself. Selection of the appropriate segment shape and type for the material to be cut can be made by the WINTERSTONE specialist. He will also decide how many framesaw segments to braze onto a framesaw blade.

The proper configuration of the framesaw segments on the blade is also very important. The pitch is critical to decide whether the stability of the blade is sufficient, and whether the required pressing forces can be transferred to the segments. Incorrect pitch can lead to extreme conditions with flattening or destruction of the diamond grits.
